The three VGMA Lifetime Achievement award winners—Gospel singers Dr. Mary Ghansah, Prof. Kofi Abraham and Highlife artiste, Obuoba J.A Adofo have received GHc10,000 each for their contribution to the Ghanaian music industry.
The money is part of the package for the Lifetime Achievement Award the veteran musicians received at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA), organised by Chaterhouse.
Speaking at a short ceremony at the offices of Charterhouse at Awudome Estates in Accra on Tuesday, June 18, radio presenter Franky 5, who received the money on behalf of Prof. Kofi Abraham thanked the VGMAorganisers for celebrating the legends.
“This money will help the musicians a lot especially those who are not very active at the moment. They have paid their dues in the music industry and it is in order that Charterhouse is giving them this token to show appreciation for their efforts,” he said.
Dr. Mary Ghansah, who was present at the ceremony also thanked Charterhouse for remembering their hard work.
For his part, Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse, George Quaye, said the musicians are no doubt among the greatest we have in Ghana and his out is glad to give them this token as a sign of appreciation.
“This is something small to show our appreciation for your contribution to the music industry and we hope this will help cater for one or two needs,” he added.
